Mixed Am-Am 2023

Winners Am AmOn  Sunday 2nd April 2023, after a cold start and a wet week, a fantastic field of 14 teams played Stanton-on-the-Wolds GC in our annual Mixed Am-Am event, raising money to support the development and coaching of Junior Girls within Nottinghamshire. The sun came out and the scores were impressive in the tough conditions, with a notable Hole-in-One for Helen Hammond.

The girls were responsible for the running of the event, ably led from the front by Junior Captain, and starter for the day, Jorja Newbold. Other members of the Notts Juniors helped to run the putting competition and club washing activities; I hear they even offered to clean shoes! The girls raised over £395 on the day which is an amazing result. Many thanks to all of you who left your clubs and shoes for them to clean.

1st Place – Michala Burgess, Steve Wyer, Helen Hammond and Paul Hammond.

Junior Jubilee 2022

Maddie JorjaThe last event of 2022 the Junior Jubilee saw the end of an era, with Susie Taylor announcing that she was stepping down from her role as County Junior Organiser, after 7 years of her infectious enthusiasm for junior golf and her competitive spirit we have had a very successful few seasons under her leadership and she will be sorely missed. As county champions for the last two years no-one can underestimate the impact she has had on her teams and we know she will be watching carefully to ensure we continue this run of form! Thank you, Susie, for all your hard work.
The junior jubilee was a great success, many thanks to all the ladies from the senior teams who came to play in the competition in what turned out to be rather chilly and damp conditions and congratulations to the winning teams on braving the elements.

The Junior Jubilee is also the official handover of Captaincy as Maddie Smith handed over the badge to Jorja Newbold. We all wish Maddie the very best in the years to come and will be watching her progress carefully. She has been a fantastic captain and really showed how to lead from the front. Many thanks too go to the Smith family for providing fantastic prizes and gifts on the day.

CaptainsAt the final coaching session of the year we managed to get all the girls, who had taken part in the scratch matches over the season, together in their new kit, with the league trophy and their coach, Richard Strange. WE also took a photograph to send to Acorn Windows with thanks for their donation and ongoing support of the girls.

All the up and coming girls wanted to wish the County Team, including all those junior girls selected, good luck for the County Finals in Southampton. Pictured left are outgoing Junior Captain Maddy Smith,  incoming Captain Jorga Newbold and new Vice-Captain Amelia Wan.
