MNR Junior League 2019 - Round 1

vStaffs2019aSome people might remember Sunday the 14th for Djokovic winning Wimbledon, some may remember it as the day England won the Cricket World Cup, but WE will remember it for an amazing day of golf for Notts in the Midlands North Junior League at Norwood Park Golf Course!  Special thanks to Maureen the County President and Carol our County Captain for supporting us on the day. The team was also well supported all day by friends and family all in red (eventually) following Sue’s orders!
In the morning the squad took on Staffordshire with much success winning 5-0, each girl did us proud, the scores were- Libby 4&2, Amelia 4&3, Ava 1up, Jorja 2&1 and Maddie 4&2. This was followed by a successful afternoon playing Shropshire, the final score for the afternoon was 4½-½ and the scores were- Libby 10&8, Amelia 6&4, Leonie 6&5, Ava 4&3 and Jorja halved on the last.
The course was in great condition and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day. We were made very welcome by everyone at Norwood Park. Here’s to Torksey on the 28th!

Junior Jubilee and Presentation 2019

Girls 2019aA fantastic day for the 2019 Junior Jubilee, our celebration of our golfing year. We played an Am/Am at Norwood Park in glorious sunshine and congratulations must go to all the girls who scored incredibly well in difficult conditions. Well done to the winning 18 hole team of Elizabeth Smith, Freya Keal, Safi Durrant and Ava Waplington, who narrowly beat Lucy Bradshaw, Madeleine Smith, Annie Bowman and Lucy Holbrough into second place. It was very close between all 4 teams and really demonstrated the strength of the Notts squad this year. In the par 3 competition Maya Kubba, Millie Marsh and Yara Kubba took first place with all girls showing just how well they have progressed during the year.

The evening presentation of certificates and re-presenting of trophies and awards won throughout the year was amazing with a prize table showing a small sample of the numerous awards received during the year. Captain Lucy Holbrough gave a fantastic speech and they said a sad farewell to our retiring County President Maureen Clarke who has been a wonderful supporter of the coaching sessions and competitions throughout the year.

Susie and Suzi would like to congratulate all the girls on an amazingly successful year and wish you all the very best in 2020.
