Information for 2015

The first newsletter, outlining junior golf events in Nottinghamshire for 2015 is available to download here. Any junior participating in county organised events during 2015 needs to complete and return a tracker form. These can be downloaded here if you have not already received one.

The website has been updated with fixtures as far as we know at the moment. The missing matches will be added as soon as arranged. Application forms for competitions are also available for download.

Nottinghamshire Golf Competitions - Junior Order of Merit (JOOM) and Rookies Tour
After trialling this in 2014 we are continuing it for 2015. There will be prizes for the overall best 3 aggregate scores for girls for both gross and nett scores.
  • The JOOM has 6 events and is open to anyone under 18 on 1st Jan 2015 with a handicap of 36 or less. The events are junior opens run by the host clubs so you have to enter each event separately.
  • The Rookies tour has 3 events and isopen to those aged 12-18 without handicaps or with club handicaps over 36.

Nipper's tour
It is open to boys and girls under 12 years on January 1st 2015 and there are 7 events all 9 holes or less depending on age. If a girl would prefer to play in an all girls group, just put this on the application form. The idea is to get out on to a course and have fun. There are prizes at every event, but new this year are prizes for the aggregate winners of the girls in two age groups (under 9 and 9-11).

All dates are available on the Junior Fixtures page.

Junior Presentation Evening 2014

The Presentation Evening for our junior girls and their families is to be held on Saturday 22nd November at Beeston Fields Golf Club. This is a chance for the girls to get together and celebrate their season with all their friends and family.

For those who have not had a chance to reply the invitation is available to download so that you can order your meals and also an achievements form for all the girls to fill in to outline their achievements over the past season - if you could do this by 14th November that would be helpful.

For any girls who cannot make the Presentation Evening I would still encourage them to return an achievements form as they help us to see how the girls are progressing and we also display them at the County AGM to show all the ladies within the county how talented our juniors are.

Junior Presentation Evening 2014

Pres2014cThe junior girls presentation evening was held at Beeston Fields Golf Club on Saturday 22nd November. Girls, their parents, coaches and officials had a lovely meal and then the girls were presented with many of the trophies they had won during the 2014 season as well as certificates of achievement.

The Midlands North Region scratch league trophy was presented to the Junior Captain Sophie Newlove and other members of the team by the County President Joan Underwood.Presentation14c

At the end of the evening the incoming Junior Captain Rhiannon Linacre received her Captain's pin. In addition, as Rhiannon can only be Captain until April 2015 when she will lose her amateur status, Emma Anderson was also introduced as Junior Captain from May to November 2015. Emma then announced that Esme Hamilton will be Junior Vice-Captain for the whole of 2015.

League Match v Shropshire 2014

vshrops14On Sunday 7th September the County Junior 1st team of Sophie Newlove, Rhiannon Linacre, Esme Hamilton and Emma Anderson played Shropshire at Market Drayton Golf Club.

On a beautiful warm and sunny day Notts won 4½ to 1½.

We were made very welcome at the club and by the Shropshire team and all of the players enjoyed the testing course, which rewarded thoughtful play.

Well done Nottinghamshire!

Lynn Buttery
County Secretary

New NCLGA Junior Coordinator

As we have been unable to find anyone to take on the traditional role of County Junior Organiser the committee have found it necessary to revise the role. The new role will be the "Junior Coordinator" who will act as a central point of contact for all junior issues but will not necessarily run or attend all events. These tasks will be spread out between other members of the Junior Committee.

Emma Howie has agreed to take on this role as Junior Coordinator going forward.

In addition we will have a new member of the Junior Committee to assist Emma; Carol Houghton is a member at The Nottinghamshire Golf Club and also a county second team player. She will be attending the presentation evening in November and so will be introduced to you all then.

League Match v Derbyshire 2014

The 1st team ventured to Cavendish Golf Club in the beautiful peak district for their latest league match against Derbyshire on Sunday 31st August. On a very scenic course which all the girls were playing blind (indeed literally because many of the holes you couldn't see the green from the tee!) the girls battled hard to a very close finish, losing 2½ to 3½ on the very last putt of the day!

I was extremely proud of the team and how hard they tried right to the end, especially as there were three players making their debut for the scratch team: Kristina Lazarevic, Charlotte Hazelwood and Jacey Peacock. Thanks also to Esme Hamilton who gave an eloquent speech as acting Captain on the day.

It is now all to play for in the last league match of the season - the title is still in our grasp! Good luck to the team playing Sunday 7th September vs Shrops.

Emma Howie
Match Assistant

Winter Coaching by the NCGP

This winter we have attempted to coordinate our training programmes with the Nottinghamshire  County Golf Partnership to get a good coaching structure in place to go forward and support girls golf at all levels within the county.

These programmes have already started but anyone who wishes to join them can find further details on the Nottinghamshire County Golf Partnership website - here.
