MNR Queen of Clubs 2022
39 players from across the region took to the fairways at Coxmoor GC on August 22nd for the MNR Queen of Clubs competition. After a benign start to the round the wind, and for the later starters, torrential rain, made for a challenging day. The course was in great condition despite the recent dry weather and the winner of the competition with an excellent gross score of 73 was Carolyn Parkes-Walley, Lutterworth GC, seen here receiving the Douglas Bowl, from Jean Stones, Lady Captain Coxmoor GC.
2nd to 5th gross prize winners were:
Ava Waplington, Coxmoor GC (77),
Carol Wild representing Longcliffe GC (78 on countback),
Tracy Bourne, Willesley Park GC, (78 on countback)
Emily Horsted, Belton Park GC (78).
Alexandra Nisbet, Burghley Park GC and Sue Borthwick, Market Rasen GC, with scores of 71 and 73 respectively, won the nett prizes.
MNR would like to thank all those who played and represented their clubs. Our thanks also go to Coxmoor GC, their staff and the Lady Captain Jean, for all their support.
County Captain's Day 2022
After a stressful few days, listening to the heatwave forecasts and debating what was the best course of action, we decided to go ahead with my Captain’s Day at Hollinwell on 18th July 2022, with some alterations to the course and the timings to make it more manageable. We reduced the number of holes to 13, missing out the tough loop round the top, and brought as many of the tee times forward as we could. Several teams chose not to play, knowing the heat would be too much for some of their players, but it was lovely that some of those ladies did come up for their meal, to socialise and maybe even win a raffle prize!
26 teams did compete, and a hearty congratulations to all of them. It was hard work out there!
